Patrick Akinwuntan is the Managing Director and Regional Executive Designate of Ecobank Nigeria Ltd. He is a seasoned banker with over 20 years of senior and executive management experience. Mr Akinwuntan has held several strategic positions in the Ecobank Group in Ghana, Togo and Nigeria.
He had previously been a Group Executive Director on the Board of ETI and earlier as Executive Director in Ecobank Nigeria. He has acquired over 20 years in the financial services industry. He has an MBA in Finance from Obafemi Awolowo University and is an alumnus of the prestigious Harvard Business School (SEP). He is also a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (1988) and an Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Taxation of Nigeria. Patrick Akinwuntan represents Ecobank on the Board of Accion MfB.
John Fischer is the Chief Investments Officer at Accion International. His career with Accion MfB spans over 9 years with previous assignments as Director, Investment and Credit Analyst at Rhinesmith and Associates Inc.
He has held various board positions in organizations like Apoyo Integral, S.A, as Director, Audit Committee Member, Akiba Commercial Bank Tanzania, as Director, Audit Committee Member, Risk Committee Member and Banco Popular Covelo, Honduran as Director and Alternate Director, Corporate Governance Committee Member. Mr Fischer is a graduate of Boston University Graduate School of Management and holds an MBA and MIR.
John Fischer is the Board Chairman and he represents Accion Africa-Asia Investment Company on the Board of Accion MfB.
Mr. Taiwo Adesina Joda is the Managing Director/CEO of Accion MfB. He holds a B.Sc. degree in Finance and Banking from the University of Lagos and a Masters degree in Finance and Banking from the same university. He is an Alumnus of Said Business School â?? Oxford University
Mr. Joda is a senior member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (HCIB) and a Member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM) He has attended several top management programs both locally and internationally including â?? Lagos Business School, Nigeria, INSEAD, France and Euro money both in UK and Singapore.
Mr. Joda has over (25) twenty-five years’ experience in Bank and Non- Bank Financial Institutions spread over (5) five institutions with core competences in corporate finance, corporate banking, branch banking, retail banking and key customer management.
Institutions he worked prior to joining Accion MfB include: Arbitrage Finance and Investment Company LTD, Kenneth Michael & company Nig. LTD, FSB International, International Trust Bank, Equatorial Trust Bank, Diamond Bank and Fidelity Bank plc.
His remarkable performance on the job earned him appointments into critical and strategic committees and several awards in the institutions he had previously worked. He has excellent leadership skills and continually mentors young professionals. Mr. Joda was appointed the MD/CEO of Accion MfB on August 1st 2017 but assumed full responsibility as Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer on January 2nd 2018.
Dr Segun Aina is a global professional banking leader, internationally rated fintech influencer and thought leader, respected Futurist and a Philanthropist. He had three decades of distinguished banking career and voluntarily retired from active banking service after a six-year tenure as Bank MD/CEO. His core area of interest was operations and technology -using technology to deliver delightful banking services and products in a very efficient manner.
He is past President of Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (2012 to 2014) as well as West African Bankers Association (Nigeria Chapter) 2001 and currently the inaugural Chairman of Global Council of Global Banking Education Standards Board (GBEStB) 2017 to date. A tech visionary who set up Fintech Associates Ltd as far back as 2002, he is founding President, Fintech Association of Nigeria, initiator and founding President of the Africa Fintech Network, Founder/Chairman, The Fintech Institute among others.
Dr. Aina who has been variously described as Nigeria's fintech envoy, incubated a number of successful fintech startups and sits on the Boards of various institutions in Banking, Insurance, Agriculture, Technology sectors etc. He also serves as a member of the UK-Africa Fintech Investment Group, a UK Govt initiative co-Chaired by the Lord Mayor of London and UK Prime Minister Ambassador for Business Fintech. Dr. Aina is a distinguished alumnus of University of Lagos, University of Ibadan, INSEAD France, Harvard Business School, IMD Switzerland, and Lagos Business School. Dr Aina is Fellow of London Institute of Banking and Finance, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, Nigerian Institute of Chartered Arbitrators, Institute of Directors, Nigerian Institute of Management as well as Member, Toronto Region Board of Trade, Canada and Canadian Council for Africa. He holds the Nigeria National honors of Officer of the Order of Federal Republic (OFR) and has received honorary doctorate degrees from three Universities.

Mrs Adenike Laoye is Chief of Staff and Group Head, Communications at Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, the parent company of the Ecobank Group, the leading independent Pan-African banking group.
With 25 years' post call in-house counsel experience, she is very knowledgeable in documentation for transactions and processes and possesses excellent negotiation skills. An honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria, she is happily married with children.
Adenike Laoye represents Ecobank Nigeria on the Board of Accion MfB.
Mark is a General Manager in the Global Subsidiaries Group of Citi Nigeria's Banking, Capital Markets and Advisory (BCMA) business. He is largely responsible for driving and supervising Citi Nigeria's strategy for multi-national Branded Consumer Goods and Aviation clients. Mark has been involved in several landmark lending and financing transactions in the industry.
Mark has over 23 years' experience in the areas of financial statements audit and assurance, business advisory and corporate and investment banking. He started his career with Arthur Andersen (later KPMG) and worked in the Corporate Bank of Zenith Bank Plc and the Corporate Finance desk of FCMB Capital Markets Limited before joining Citibank as an Assistant General Manager in October 2008.
He is a Fellow of the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA); a member of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (ICAN) and The Chartered Institutes of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN). Mark holds a BSc (Hons) Degree in Accounting and a Master's Degree with focus in Finance and Investments from the University of Exeter, United Kingdom. Mark is also the Non-Executive Chairman, Good Governance Africa (GGA) Nigeria, a non- profit organization set up to support good cause and improved government advocacy in Nigeria
Mrs. Laoye was appointed a Non-Executive Director representing Ecobank Nigeria on the Board of Accion Microfinance Bank on January 5th, 2017. She has a Law degree and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1991.
Mrs. Laoye joined Ecobank Group in 1993, where she rose to become the Head of Legal and Regulatory Unit of Ecobank Nigeria in 2000 and subsequently the Company Secretary/Chief Legal Counsel in 2002. She has had over thirty (30) years of experience as legal counsel in a financial services company, 17 years of which, was as Chief Legal Counsel. In March 2019 when she took up the role of Chief of Staff to the Group Chief Executive Officer (GCEO), of Ecobank Transnational Incorporated, Lome, Togo, the parent company of the Ecobank Group. She also doubled as Group Head, Corporate Communications.
As Chief of Staff, Mrs. Laoye coordinated and effectively took charge of the office of the GCEO of the Ecobank Group whose direct reports included 33 Managing Directors from across 33 African countries, gaining strong exposure to finance, banking, and macroeconomics across the African continent. In the role, she also had close interaction with several international multilateral agencies.
She has attended executive programs at INSEAD, Harvard, and Cranfield amongst others.
She is a member of the Nigerian Bar Association as well as an Honorary member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.
She was recognized by Chambers as a 2021 General Counsel Influencer for Africa. She led her Legal team at Ecobank Nigeria to win the 2013 Acquisition International Team of the Year and In-House Legal Department of the Year 2010 in the maiden edition of the Business Day Legal award in Nigeria.
Mrs. Laoye is an ardent proponent of financial inclusion, best corporate governance practices, and a strong believer in sustainable development goals. She brings to the Board over thirty (30) years of professional experience in the Financial Services Industry.
Mr. Olumide Obayomi, an Independent Director and Consultant, has been in private consulting for over 5 years. Formerly a Consultant Fund Manager for Small, Medium Enterprises Fund with African Alliance Company (CAN Fund Manager Limited).
Mr Obayomi has more than 25 years of banking and other financial services experience, that includes 17 years' experience in private equity/venture capital investing and management with a premier private equity management company in Africa, operating principally from Nigeria.
With private equity and entrepreneurship enabling experiences that have been anchored on robust experience in corporate strategy and planning, accounting, financial reporting and control, information systems design and management, taxation and general management both in the public and private sectors,
Mr Olumide brings to Accion MfB a wealth of knowledge in the management of different types of businesses.

Mr. Christian Ruehmer is an expert in the area of Risk Management and Treasury for financial institutions in developing countries and a Senior Risk Manager and Banker with over 25 years of international experience.
He comes to Accion MfB with in-depth international experience for over 15 years in the implementation and improvements of risk management frameworks with over 70 financial institutions and international organizations across the world.
With a focus on the integration of technology and data management to improve risk management and competitiveness of financial institutions, Christian is an experienced Risk and Compliance Manager.
Christian Ruehmer represents Accion Africa-Asia Investment Company on the Board of Accion MfB.
Brian Kuwik brings to his role at Accion more than 25 years of experience working to improve financial inclusion, promote entrepreneurship and expand economic opportunity in Africa, Asia, and the Caribbean. He leads the delivery of advisory solutions in Central Asia and sits on the boards of investee institutions in Africa playing an active role in governance and providing strategic and financial advice. Most recently, he has worked to develop new collaborations between banks and inclusive fintechs in Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan supporting women entrepreneurs and to enhance the capacity of banks in Madagascar and Mozambique to offer digital financial services to micro and small businesses. In his previous role of Chief Regional Officer for Africa, he headed Accionâ??s regional operations and managed its relationships with partner financial institutions in Africa.
Before joining Accion, Brian worked at the Small Enterprise Foundation in rural South Africa and was a J.W. Fulbright researcher in Cameroon. He holds an MBA in finance and international business from the University of Washington and is certified as a digital finance practitioner by Digital Frontiers Institute/Tufts University.
Mr. Wolfgang Bertelsmeier serves as a Consultant at International Finance Corporation which he joined in 1990. Mr. Bertelsmeier worked for various financial institutions and retired from The World Bank Group in 2009. He started his career in the World Bank in 1976. He serves as a Financial Advisor and is a Non-Executive Director on the Boards of several companies in Africa, Asia and Europe. He serves as a Director of ProCredit Bank Sh.a. He has been an Independent Member of the Supervisory Board of Public joint stock company ProCredit Bank since September 6, 2017. He has been a Member of the Supervisory Board at JSC ProCredit Bank, Georgia since 2012. He served as a Member of Supervisory Board of ProCredit Holding AG & Co. KGaA since 2011. Mr. Bertelsmeier served as Director of Advans Group.
He served as a Director of TPS Eastern Africa Limited from July 1, 2009 to January 23, 2011. Mr. Bertelsmeier has held Board positions of various IFC portfolio companies in the financial, industrial and infrastructure sectors in Africa, Asia and Latin America.
He holds a diplome d'Etudes Francaises from Universite de Poitiers (France) and a degree in Business Administration from Frankfurt University (Germany). Mr. Bertelsmeier also took executive education at Harvard Business School and Stanford University.
Olayinka David-West is a Professor of Information Systems with over three decades experience in the IT and financial services industry and is a passionate advocate for digital transformation and inclusive finance.
Professor David-West is Associate Dean at the Lagos Business School (LBS) and a member of the school's governance body. For almost a decade, she served as Academic Director of the Enterprise Development Centre (EDC) providing capacity building and enterprise support services for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) in Nigeria. She currently leads the Sustainable and Inclusive Digital Financial Services (SIDFS) initiative, a research, capacity building, engagement and advocacy initiative dedicated to enhancing financial inclusion in Nigeria.
Olayinka is a renowned thought leader in digital transformation and applications in financial services. She has expert certifications in financial inclusion policy and digital money, is a governing council member of the Fintech Association of Nigeria and a member of the African Women in Finance and Payments. She mentors young women in STEM, and was featured on the Tech Women of Lagos exhibition, listed among the Leading Women in Nigeria's Financial Technology Industry and profiled on FintechTimes as a leading financial inclusion in Africa expert.
Professor David-West holds a Doctorate in Business Administration (DBA) from Manchester Business School, and an MSc in Business Systems Analysis and Design from City University, London.
Ibukunoluwa Oyedeji is the Chief Financial Officer of Ecobank Nigeria Limited. Prior to this, she was the Country Head of Securities, Wealth and Asset Management Business for the Ecobank Group. She was also the Managing Director of the EDC Fund Management Limited, a member firm of the Ecobank Group.
Before joining the Ecobank Group, Ibukun had worked with FBN Capital Asset Management (Now FBNQuest Asset Management) Limited as Head of the Fixed Income & Money Market department. She had also worked at Guaranty Trust Bank Plc ( now GT Bank Plc). She also worked with Goldman Sachs International, HSBC Global Markets and Morgan Stanley International â?? all in the United Kingdom. She has over 20 years experience in fund and asset management, credit analysis, treasury management and securities trading.
Ibukun holds a Bachelorsâ?? degree in Economics from the University of Ibadan Nigeria and a Mastersâ?? degree (MSc) in international securities & Investment Banking from ISMA Centre, University of Reading, UK. She is a CFA Charterholder, Fellow of the institute of Chartered Accountants of Nigeria (FCA) , an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Stockbrokers (CIS) of Nigeria and a Honorary Senior member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers Nigeria (CIBN).
Ibukun is the President of CFA Society Nigeria. She also serves on the Board of Personal Financial Planning GTE, a not for profit body registered by the SEC to promote financial planning in Nigeria.
